About the Author
Ellen Kirschman, PhD, is a clinical psychologist, volunteer clinician at the First Responder Support Network, and sought-after speaker and workshop facilitator. Dr. Kirschman is a recipient of the Award for Outstanding Contributions to Police and Public Safety Psychology from the Police and Public Safety section of Division 18 (Psychologists in Public Service) of the American Psychological Association and the Distinguished Contribution to Psychology award from the California Psychological Association. She is coauthor of a book for mental health professionals, Counseling Cops, and author of the self-help guides I Love a Cop, Third Edition, and I Love a Fire Fighter, as well as the mystery novels Burying Ben, The Right Wrong Thing, and The Fifth Reflection. I read the original book years ago and ordered the newest edition to see what changed. I was very surprised to see how updated it is! The profession has changed a lot since the first publishing and the author is definitely still involved with agencies and individual officers. As the wife of a career law enforcement officer (38 years on the job), I am a big fan of this book. I would (and do) recommend it to any law enforcement officer, spouse and family.
Selected the buy new button, but when I opened the package the book was dirty, sticky and had something brown spilled along all the pages. I exchanged it and the second book had nothing wrong with it. I love what I’ve read so far. I can’t wait to finish reading it. Was only disappointed because the first book came dirty or else I would rate five star.
Anyone who “loves a cop†should read this. It gives you valuable knowledge and tells you what to be aware of and kind of look out for. I’m glad I waited for the new edition to come out before purchasing as it address the new challenges LEOs face in today’s ever changing world.
A must read for anyone that has a family member becoming a police officer.
That's is a very helpful tool. My husband has been a Leo for 12yrs. There's alot for spouse's to relate to. It's a must a read! You wont be disappointed!
