I was able to learn about several aspects of Catholicism such as why Catholics adore the Virgin Mary (and not worship her). It also takes some time to debunk some myths about Catholicism that have developed and have caused confusion. Overall, there is much to be learned in this book for those that know little about Catholicism.There is one issue I had with this book. While reading it I felt it generally assumed that one was already familiar with Christianity in general. If you do not know about the story of Adam and Eve or the life of Jesus, you are probably going to be lost while reading this. It mainly seems targeted to those who are Protestant and are curious about Catholicism or perhaps those that were raised Catholic but fell out later in life.Overall though, I thought this was a good book to learn about some of the major tenets of Catholicism. I would recommend it to those who want to learn about it.

Even though I went through the RCIA program I still had some questions about why Catholics did certain things. I also bought it because I wanted a simple book with some of the prayers that are said, that my husband (a cradle Catholic) is unable to repeat unless he's in that setting. This is just a very nice book that easily lays out all of the Why's and How's of Catholicism in an easy-to-read manner. I would recommend it for all Catholics or those who are just curious about Catholicsm in general.

Kudos to the author! Well done! Although this book is not a substitute for catechism, it is comprehensive and pretty much covers all the major stuff. It’s easy to read and easy to digest … a great “refresher course!”

Very easy to read. I bought this for a project on Catholicism and I liked it better than other books I used. It really addresses almost everything you need to know. It also seems un-biased, but rather is just trying to explain the religion and provide information. I did not read the whole thing, but took certain parts for my project.

My purchases on Amazon have been amazing lately. This book was no exception. I am a new Catholic and have a million questions. RCIA is great but doesn't answer a lot.This book does. I haven't read it all but am using it as a reference. It is clearly written and seems to cover everything I need to know...so far. I bet I know more already than most cradle Catholics. I highly recommend this book if you want to know the truth about Catholicism.

An excellent and very readable overview of a very complex subject. Catholicism is explained in a direct, straightforward and sometimes humorous manner. This book may be for dummies but it was definitely not written by dummies.

Not as good as the earlier editions. No pictures or cartoons to help identify the issue. Explanations much more detailed. It was suppose to be an abbreviated answer to questions catholic. No so. Too deeply detailed

Clinical Hematology Atlas 5th edition by Rodak is an excellent atlas for hematologists, hematopathologists and hematology lab technicians. It has amazing images of most hematological problems including anemias and malignancies. To my mind, it is the best Atlas of hematology in the market and has helped me enormously at the hematology lab. However, for experts in hematology, I strongly suggest to Dr. Rodak to include images of rarer diseases such as the morulae on anaplasmosis, babesia, etc.

This atlas doesn’t benefit from the most recent WHO classifications, but that’s not a problem since it doesn’t go into that much detail. I like the introduction, organization, schematic drawings and maturation sequences, those few electron micrographs, high quality pictures , disease associations, useful tables, it’s glossary and it also has a chapter on body fluids.Cons: It doesn’t cover some of the abnormalities and disorders. A part of that plastic spiral bound broke on the first day of carrying it in a back pack!

This is my best friend for Hematology. It has awesome microscopic slide pictures to help you learn what each type of cell looks like, and good illustrations for cell maturation lines. You don't even need the matching textbook really! Very good, highly recommend.

The book is full of encouragement for those that have Meniere's symptoms. It has been very helpful to me. Every patient may have a different response to diet, exercise and other therapies....but I would say it is worth reading the book and trying the suggestions the author proposes. I am in the process of following everything regarding diet, exercise and anxiety therapy and it seems to improve the symptoms (so far...only 4 weeks on the trial). But I would love to report in 12 months from now. In any case, my attitude has changed and now I am willing to do better.

This was a great purchase! It has really helped my husband. There is no cure for Meniere's, but this book has helped my husband [and me] realize he can live and live well with the disease. His attitude about himself and his responsibility to take control of his life has become such a positive thing that I believe he is healthier and happier than he has been in a long time. There is no magic here...just good common sense with inspirational words that stick with him and guidelines for living a good life with a rough disease. Thank you, Meniere Man.

The holistic approach suggested in this self-help book for Meniere's Disease gave me some tools I could use to assist me with symptoms which was more than my doctor offered me. I loved the positive suggestions. They made sense and the majority can be fitted into one's lifestyle regardless of financial status. I bought this hoping for some concrete help on dealing with menieres disease symptoms but that's not what this book is for. The author discusses his mental strategies for dealing, but not the physical elements of the disease. Instead of tips for avoiding dizzy spells it's more a motivational self - help book for staying positive in light of this crummy disease. If you need some positive affirmation that it's not as bad as you think this is the way to go . Very casual writing style and easy to finish in one long sitting.

My mother has Meniere's - diagnosed about 3 years ago. We've been to numerous doctor's, gone through job loss, financial hardships and soul searching. This book literally outlined much of what my mother and our family have experienced. It is helpful, uplifting and reminds Meniere's survivors to take back their lives. Many of the recommendations are very useful and I think helpful tools to maintain a sense of normalcy and support when Meniere's attacks present themselves. My mother has been reading the book over the weekend and really likes it. Recommend this book.

I was just diagnosed woth meniere's. I picked up the book in hopes of just figuring out the diet. What i didnt anticipate was that it was going to also explain things about myself i have never been able to understand about myself. Ob looking back through my life tgus far, i really now know tgat ive been suffering with this disease for a very long time.

Nice enough book, but I do not find it mentally satisfying to read about that which I can so identify with - it just depresses me. I guess I'm not a "help group" sort of person, but this does not mean it will not help some. For me, just too real.

A very short book without much scientific info, but lots of techniques and thoughts on how to cope with Menieres. A good book to give to family members so they can understand your condition and better help you recover from attacks.

Studying for your MCSA? Do not rely on this book alone. The test makers do not write the study materials--in fact, I don't even think the test writers and study material writers even communicate. The exam objectives on Microsoft's website list what you might expect to find in the test, and I imagine the authors of this book did their best in covering the material, but I found this book to lack so much information and detail.To be fair, the amount of material you're expected to know is staggering, but still, entire exam objectives like Web Application Proxy--a huge topic--were only mentioned in one paragraph. Disappointing.This book does succeed only insofar as an additional resource to other study sources. In that instance, it can have value. James Conrad does a great 70-411 course on CBTNuggets, TechNet has the most crucial information, and lab, lab, lab, lab. Successfully passing these exams requires an almost eidetic memory of menus, options, features, cmdlets, etc. This book in addition to the resources I just mentioned can definitely make a difference.However if you're looking for a one-stop-shop for the 70-411, this book will disappoint.

I wish I had read the reviews before hand which I always do but I have had good experience in the past with Sybex that's why I did not bother to read them but this book is a total waste of money. I wanted a book to go along with my Plural sight videos but this is very incomplete. It does not cover all topics as mentioned. I started with Chapter 2 for DFS and it just sucked. No good explanation and no demos. Will use it for my chimney!!

After this weird start, the author ramps up for a chapter about "measuring performance and troubleshooting failures" only to go into sections about WDS and WSUS. I haven't finished the book yet, but the first half has been lackluster.

This book is essentially useless for the exam 70-411. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement.Entire sections of content were completely omitted. Complicated topics that needed fleshing out and description were one paragraph in a single chapter. I will not be using this series for my studies with the 70-412. It is a waste and a joke.

This book does not cover all the material for the exam. Use the book, your own labs and practice exams. Then based on how you do with practice exams look online for resources on the areas that need reinforcement. Here is where you see that a lot of material is not in the book.

This is an excellent write-up. It goes over all the little basic stuff, which I like. It's not overkill, it's just enough. Perfect.

Don't buy this book . Book does not cover everything it states it will cover . It starts a paragraph and live unfinished.

Although you can't jugdge a book by it's cover, when you take this book, and on the cover you see it's for the EXAM 70-411, and on the very same cover, it says : "Covers 100% of exam 70-412 objectives ..." you know something is not right.The book is filled with a lot of filler: words and words and words, there only to fill space and add pages to the required length:An example: On page 133, Using the nslookup command, setp 1 is totally irrelevant and superfluous, adding 4 lines, when it should have sufficed only one short sentence :"Open cmd prompt". Like this 4 superfluous lines, you have plenty,some awfully blatant like this "Introducing DNS" :"Owing largely to the popularity of the Internet, however, most environments have transitioned to use Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) as their primary networking protocol. Microsoft is no exception when it comes to supporting TCP/IP " ... and it goes on and on.I think it should be pretty obvious that "the internet is popular nowadays", and that "Microsoft is supporting TCP/IP", especially obvious to the addressed reader of this book.The information, although superfluous, is right, and William Panek is an author that I respect, but the copy-editing is beyond bad: in Appendix A, where you have the answer to the end of chapter review questions, it goes from "Chapter 3:" to "Chapter 5", only to find that really, "Chapter 5" should be "Chapter 4", and so on.... It's a pitty so sloppy and rushed copy editting to an otherwise good book

Being a collection of almost independently written chapters, its exposition style not always internally consistent, however, if you are willing to overlook that and are willing to put some effort into understanding what is being said, you will find it quite useful. Refreshingly, it covers both traditional and Bayesian approach to regression modeling. Even though it is advertised as a reference for insurance professionals, the material covered applies to virtually any area of predictive analytics, including healthcare, market research, reliability and fraud analysis. Given its value to the practitioner, it is definitely a worthy purchase. I am looking forward to Volume II.

It is a gooD book introducinG many modern models and aproaches to everdyday problem of someone involved with insurance industries, they are self contained within each chapter so in case you need to read any particular approach to problem there is no problem, explanations are clear, do not expect something easy to understand because o this, the content is at a high mathematical level, but most of the techniques involve applications through software, especially R , so it is a good book on it's own

I hope you have better things to do with your life than reading this dreadfully organized book of boredom and pedantic nitty-grittiness.

It offers comprehensive coverage of the relevant statistical techniques and can serve as a valuable reference and resource. The editors should be commended for the high quality of both the content and writing maintained throughout.Each chapter is almost a stand-alone mini-textbook on a particular method, and is introduced by a brief and informative summary. Each method is illustrated with well-developed insurance-related applications and R code for implementing the analyses. The presentation is sometimes at a fairly high mathematical level, but remains firmly moored to practical applications. Although the context is actuarial science, it may well be of interest to a wider audience.Perhaps the editors can be persuaded to undertake an equally impressive volume devoted to the machine-learning side of predictive modeling. Personally, I would like to see chapters dealing with various popular machine-learning techniques such as CART, Lasso, neural nets, genetic algorithms, KNN etc. Chapters on such supervised learning techniques would complement the excellent chapter by Louise Francis on unsupervised learning in the current volume. In any case, I look forward to the second planned companion volume that will present a wide range of case studies on actual projects.

I bought both the Kindle version and the hard cover. Below are my comments:Kindle version is difficult to follow since a lot of the mathematical notations show up in bigger fonts and in picture format than actual text. -- strongly not recommend buying the kindle versionThe book was written by multiple authors split up by chapter. Each chapter has examples. About 2/3 of the chapters either have no data or have dataset posted but without the R code to supplement it. When contacting authors for the R code for chapter examples, most of them are reluctant to share. Therefore, this book is not as useful as it seems.

Great story, lovely illustrations

I think adults may appreciate this one more than the children will. I've attempted to read it to my younger sisters (ages 4 and 6) and they're just not into it. It's a beautifully illustrated book with an interesting and tragic story, and you might want to save it for those a little older.

There wasn't much to the story, the art work is nice but not compelling. Still overall it was good. Amazon shipped in an envelope instead of hard packaging to it arrived slightly damaged. It got donated to the library book sale.
