In a much needed cultural wake-up call, Poussaint, a clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, and Alexander, a journalist and editor, present the startling revelation that suicides among black youth jumped 114% from 1980 to 1995. From its unsentimental opening showing the decline of two promising young men who fatally succumbed to the burden of mental illness, drug abuse and racism, this book seeks to unravel the puzzle of increasing despair and depression among black youth. The authors begin by showing how poor, sometimes even cruel, treatment of African-Americans by the health-care establishment has alienated many black people, even though their children may need care for self-destructive and suicidal behavior. Having both lost younger brothers to suicide, Poussaint and Alexander know suicide's pain and finality first-hand, and how it can be as sudden and abrupt as a gunshot to the head or as lengthy and extended as heroin addiction or alcoholism. Using case histories and interviews, their book puts a human face on the act of suicide, while employing current research data to discuss the narrowing gap between black and white suicide rates. This was so damn good!! I'm glad I read this one at home cause baby the sex scenes were enough to make you wanna try something different with your man lol (ok maybe a little TMI but still) I loved the passion and love between Lynn and Rahmir!! Rahmir seemed like the perfect mix of bad boy and gentleman. What woman doesn't want that in their life?? And I'm happy that her brother Caneron didn't go HAMM when he told them he already knew about them. This was a great read and I'm glad that I purchased it!!

This was one hot and sexy novella. Short, but steamy!! Rahmir as the hero is "all that" and Lynnae is one feisty chica! I love the interactions and camaraderie between Rahmir and Lynnae's brother Cameron. However, I'm not a fan of the use of "n-word" in any variation or form, but I overlooked that. This was definitely a "naughty novella" as described by the author, A. Marie Johnson. I'm a bit selfish too! Oh, how I wish it was a bit longer though because the characters were very interesting, and I wanted to spend some more time with them. I really enjoyed this story!

A. Marie has done it again. Like seriously done it again. First of all, can we talk about the first chapter? I'm pregnant! With twins! OMG, that was so erotic and hot! Lynn, honey, girl, chileeeeee! Whatchu mean you didn't wanna tell your brother about that man??? But, I'm soooooo glad that her brother didn't get upset at them once it was revealed. That could've gotten hella ugly. I cannot wait until we get part 3(hint hint). Well done A. Marie

Wow what quick hot sexy looking secret story. If you have never read one of Ms A. Marie books this is a great short story to read. Just to get a taste of her writing style. She is simply amazing 😉 Enjoyed the love that was captured in Mir and Lynn ❤️I love all of her bad boy lovers who treat their women with so much love and respect 💕

I loved the whole story. I loved that Rahmir and Lynn were a secret; that's the exciting part. With every good story its ALWAYS someone or something in the mix trying to mess a good thing up; which means you gonna wanna snatch that person up and give them the BUSINESS. But Love, Honesty, and a big threat came through in that clutch moment. The story telling was good. I Loved their very, very heated passion for each other, the role play and submission...Ya'll just get this book and read it for yourselves. (I don't like to drop spoilers so I'm going to stop typing lol). ENJOY!!!

This book was everything. Rahmir snatched my soul throughout the book. I’m glad that Cameron was cool with their relationship. Rahmir had that undying love for Lynnae and he couldn’t wait to show the world. I’m so glad everyone had happy endings with great new beginnings ❤️

The passion, loyalty and love between these characters is awesome. I love reading stories with strong, confident and loyal male characters. How you can hide that kind of love is crazy. But Lynnae and her crazy self, man she need a boss like Rahmir to keep her in line.

This was an awesome read and steamy🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 give me more of Lynnae and Rahmir it was so sexually charged and Hott. Definitely an 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Read and I know there’s another romance story tucked inside

Cute book with nice designs on decent paper. One sided so the pages will work well with markers and gel pens. This is my only book with black background pages. I normally like to be creative with my backgrounds but it's nice to have something to color that I can knock out quickly and not worry about all that background to color.UPDATE: I finally had a chance to color in this book. I'm sad to say that the texture is a bit course for my liking. I use Prismacolor Premier pencils which are a very good quality artist line. Even though the paper is fairly heavy, the tooth is kind of between copy paper and construction paper which makes it difficult to get a smooth lay down of color. Even after several light layers and then using my blender pencil it was still hard to get the pigment into all the white specs. Maybe a blending medium and paper stump will work better for pencil. I think this book will work best for markers or gel pens. That being said, this is still a fun book. I will just have to use a different medium.

I received my new Southern Sayins’ & Sass. This book is super cute and funny. I love how it’s a chalkboard style book; I have never had one of those before. It’s very different and that’s what makes it more fun and interesting. I’m not southern but I thought it was cute anyways. I like how it’s set on black paper instead of usual white paper; it makes it a little more interesting. I have never colored with a black background before so I am not sure what kinds of mediums I would use to color but I think I will start with colored pencils, markers might be harder to use. The book is single sided which is great so that your colorings will not bleed into the other side of the page. You can either color inside the book or tear it out to color elsewhere. The book is paperback which I think makes it easier to color because the book is more flexible than a hard covered book would be. I think because the background is black the coloring you do will stick out more as opposed to a white background. Overall I think the art is very nice and the book itself is pretty hilarious. I received this product at a discount for my honest and unbiased review.

This book is just adorable! Gives me a chance to express myself in a very unique way through coloring of cute "old South" sayings and sass that I will not be embarrassed to have others see. Drawings are on black paper with a chalkboard look to it. The sayings are ones I've heard my whole life (having grown up in the South) like "Madder Than a Wet Hen" or Hey Shug" and "She's Nuttier Than a Squirrel" and lastly "Never Trust a Skinny Cook", 32 of them in all. The paper itself is nice and thick and should not bleed through with normal markers or gel pens, but do insert card stock or cardboard behind the picture you are working on anyway to keep the following page from being dented or impressions being left. The pages are single sided and are not perforated, however there is enough of a margin that they could be carefully removed from the book without damaging the picture. Each of the sayings is surrounded with wreath shaped flowers & leaves that have a little bit of pre-shading to them, which makes this a great book for beginner colorists as there is nothing too challenging and yet are going to end up as stunning pictures worth framing. I bought this book as a gift for a friend who southern right down to her " bless your heart" bones. I didn't know anything about it or exactly what it actually was. I received it , I was so excited give it to her because I loved it. I wish the item description was more detailed because it is a wonderful grown up coloring book. The images are boldly outlined but this is so the colors used will stand out. Each page has a "southernism" title and you don't have to be from the south to laugh out loud at them. As I said this was a present/bribe but it was just so unique I ordered a set of colored pencils to accompany the book. Personally I would recommend colored pencils over crayons because it gives a watercolor look. I now have 2 beautiful masterpieces from my friend who was just thrilled with it. As a gift or for yourself, this book is imaginative, funny, unique, I highly recommend it

This is such an adorable coloring book! We purchased this for my mom who is super Southern. At one point or another in my life she's said all of these phrases. She absolutely loved it! Not only is it unique because of the chalkboard aspect, but it's just really cute! I would definitely recommend!

I really wish these adult coloring books would show sample pages or at least have an accurate description. The people who reviewed this well were given the product at a discount, for free, or received a different book with the same cover.Let me be clear: there are TWO VERSIONS of this book.1 has a flowery frame around the southern sayings.2 has actual pictures that may or may not relate to the saying but the pictures are drawn in mandalas.I got the one with the mandalas even though the pictures shown here are the flowery border. I wanted the flowers. It was repetitive and dull but it was my preference as I hate mandalas.Rest assured if you want mandalas so tiny not the finest of fine tipped marker can color without running outside the lines, this is your book! I color with pencil and at their sharpest they cannot cope with the detail here.Furthermore, the pages are not thick in the slightest. They are standard children coloring book thick. Good and useful in general, but It has a long way to become a good code at least from structural point of view. As one may expect, IEBC has a Format similar to IBC. Buy it if you need a source for contract and legal terms. Not very useful if you are looking for something similar to ASCE 41 or FEMA publications.

Maryland has adopted this code as a part of its "Smart (Existing Building) Code" which dictates all types of construction work on existing buildings over one year old. It's a "must have" for architects wanting to help their clients to safely improve their buildings as inexpensively as legally possible.

Don't bother with any other book than this gem for getting up-to-speed on Blockchain Technology. Tough sledding to get through, but it is thorough in taking you from start to finish about crypto, how it works, and how it can be implemented in business and society. I ordered several other books that I thought could do the job, but Mr. Narayanan and his co-authors nail it. Yes, in some parts it can be a bit technical, which causes a bit of slowdown in reading, but it will not leave you lacking for details of how BCT works and how it can be implemented.Hard copy that costs a bit more, but is worth it. I simply wanted to learn about BCT, and this book delivers.

This has just the right amount of detail to understand the mechanics of how bitcoin and various altcoins work, without drowning in enough details to re-implement them. Each chapter focuses on a specific aspect of cryptocurrencies, covering it succinctly and with a balanced approach. Arvind does not come across as a cryptocurrency fanatic, nor is he dismissive of the technology.

Prof Felten et al have written a technical yet approachable introduction to blockchain technology and its applications (bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies). A first or second-year CS student will be comfortable with the technical portions of the book. But the general material is suitable for any audience.My only critical comment is that much has changed in the bitcoin / cryptocurrency community since late 2015 when the book was written. It would be good to update the book to reflect current hash rates (which are 25x higher), the rise of Etherium, and the hard fork that resulted in Bitcoin Cash.

This outstanding book gives a comprehensive description of the technology behind bitcoin and related currencies. It covers not only the programs used inside the bitcoin system, but also gives a clear, intelligent discussion of such issues as the security risks, the incentives to maintain the system, the economics of mining and mining pools, and government regulation. It goes beyond bitcoin, with a chapter or two on applications which build upon bitcoin, development of related cryptocurrencies and future research directions. This is a serious effort, suitable as an introduction to research in the subject; each chapter includes appropriate references. There is also a wonderful preface about how the technology behind bitcoin evolved over a couple of decades. The book is really a pleasure to read, I couldn't put it down, and I've been recommending it broadly.

Very interesting and thorough explanation of how cryptocurrencies work and the details of Bitcoin. There are video lectures available for each chapter which are very useful!

This is a very good book on a timely topic. I started reading it and quickly got stuck. I don't have the cryptography prerequisites. So, I am currently taking the Cryptography I Coursera course from Professor Dan Boneh. Hopefully the course will give me enough background to finish the bitcoin book. There is also a Coursera course on this book. So, I am looking forward to getting through this book.

Great book on the technology surrounding bitcoin and blockchain technology. Great hardcover and nice durable pages. This is NOT for a beginner as it delves into some very technical aspects of this technology. It’s basically the textbook for the FREE blockchain course from Princeton. Recommended if your block geek.
