Young, gungho, looking for adventure and believing he would be doing something good but discovering the reality of war. If you weren't there, you will feel like you were. Living like animals in the wild, suffering heat, rain, bugs, bad food while trying to not get killed. You will feel the transformation from "new ****ing guy" to "being short" and hoping you get out alive. You'll also get a feeling of what it was like to be "In Country" and then being thrust back into "the real world" along with the scars that War left on returning troops with little or no support to recognize and deal with PTSD.

I do a lot of reading about the 101st Airborne Division and this is an excellent story. He writes about his experience during TET 68 and how the battle was fought at the lowest level. I was surprised that he was transferred to the 199th Infantry Brigade close to the time that he was going to leave Viet Nam. If you want to learn about how the infantry operated in the 101st then this is the book for you.

AMAZING!!! This story has you engrossed in it from the first page. As I read it I kept reminding myself that these were true events and actually happened. The book is very well written and takes you on a journey with the soldiers. It gives enough detail to take you on the journey but not too much that it makes you uncomfortable. My dad served in Vietnam and would never discuss anything about it and by reading this book I feel like I know him a little better. I highly recommend this book.

The journey this father/daughter must have traveled together to produce this outstanding read had to have been at times gut wrenching, and at times presented a closeness that few ever get to share in life. Lori Stillman is extremely talented in presenting very difficult visual images of the conflicts her father endured through her words, it just engulfs you. Don't pick it up for a few minutes read, make sure you have the time for cover to cover - you won't put it down once you begin the journey with John Stillman.

I did not understand the war in Vietnam when it was happening. I wasn’t opposed to it. I wasn’t in favor of it. I just couldn’t make sense of it. John Stillman lived it in the worst possible way but he lived to tell about it. His memoir didn’t bring me to closer understanding of the conflict but it did make me feel it. Wonderful writing. Wonderful details.

How I wish I could them both, a man and his daughter so strong they could face the truth of facing war and death. A daughter helping a father, a father healed by his daughters love. This was his story of war, felt and written with his daughter. AMAZING A MUST READ

This well written account of John's year in Vietnam is at times enlightening and at other times horrifying. He grew up fast and developed and sixth sense to survive the brutal war we dumped our boys into. Lori deserves great accolades for teasing this noble tale from her reluctant warrior Dad. This is not your normal Vietnam Vet story, it stark honesty makes it a classic . Highly recommended.

I met John when I use to go to his house with my parents as a child. I remember thinking this is a man with a lot on his mind that didn't really say much. I knew later in life that he is a soldier who fought in Vietnam and began to understand that he really did have a lot on his mind. This story brings out a tiny glimpse of what it must have been like. This story makes you feel like you are right there experiencing it. I've always heard war is hell and hearing it from those who lived it makes you appreciate those who fight for our freedom even more. This is an amazing read and a book that is hard to put down. Thank you to those who've served. John's story shows what true heroes you really are.

worked for my class and i got all the information i needed from it.The binding is subpar. I'm not sure what year this book was printed but the pages just come right off of the binding.

Outstanding. Chapters contain short, digestible chunks of complex information with relatable examples and quick quizzes at the end for concept reinforcement. Highly recommend as a primer for those new to the subject.

Horrendous statts book, very short and confusing explanations. Not enough examples. You won't learn anything with it.

Needed this book for a class. I chose it as a rental, PERFECT condition, except on the back cover it states there is a companion book which did not come with it. I do not need it, so not an issue for me. The book arrived earlier than expected. It's very easy to read, lots of reinforcement of concepts by examples and short quizzes.

At first I thought, "What an odd sort of book." In other words, you don't exactly "read" it. There's an introduction, of course. But it's actually a book that allows you to look up anything you might consider or wonder about being a possible deduction. It will tell you if it is or not. Little did I know I could deduct my guard dog and her upkeep! Of course, how will I prove she's a guard dog and not a pet? But, I digress.Another feature of the book that I absolutely love is the fact it tells you exactly what category an item goes under. Now you may have no problem with this one at all. Boy, I do. I may know something is deductible. But where the --- do I put it? When I first started deducting website hosting and Internet, now many years ago, I had not the foggiest where to categorize it in Quickbooks. Fact is, probably no one knew when I got my start in the early nineties. I was the first copywriter online.I think until I got this book I was still doing it wrong. It wouldn't have affected my bottom line. But one does like to put things in the right place and the book does tell you that too much if anything in the miscellaneous category is a big flag to the boys and girls we pay to give us pain at the IRS.This book is really a must-have to the self-employed -- regardless of whether we work alone in our home or have a shop or outside office or retail establishment.Finding out the coffee I buy and drink in my office eased the pain somewhat. I have the previous edition of this book, which I found quite resourceful so this edition was even better. Kamoroff expanded in further detail about specific tax deductions. Everything is written in plain-English and is easy to understand. I'm actually a tax professional and like to use this as a quick reference/handbook sort of purpose. Ramesh Gaonkar is professor of Electrical Engineering Technology at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York. He is also responsible for the development of the Computer Technology Program, STIP-Skills Improvement Program and Apprentice Program and is the author of several books. Prior to teaching, Mr. Gaonkar was a Design Engineer where he was responsible for Circuit Design. He has served as consultant for the National Science Foundation, Advanced Technology Program Proposal Review, Development and Evaluations Associates, and the National Institute of Industrial Engineering in Bombay, India. Mr. Gaonkar has received several awards, including the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Creative and Scholarly Activities, the Central NY Technology-Outstanding Teacher Award, and the American Society for Engineering Education Outstanding Teacher Award. He is a member of several professional organizations serving in leadership capacities. Mr. Gaonkar received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, his Master's of Science in Physics from Bombay University, his Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering from Union College and his Doctorate in Instructional Technology and Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University.

Only reason I bought this book was because it was the required text for the class. None of the questions have answers in the back and the software is only good for 30 uses. In my opinion, the purchase of the book should come with an extended or full software license. Absolutely ridiculous to have spend additional money after the initial trial!!

So glad I only rented this book. My professor has found at least 2 coding errors per chapter. Apparently, the editors of this book were out to lunch for the entire thing. The code, verbatim from the book, does not work in MPLABS. That was super helpful when trying to learn it. Great job, guys.

It is an excellent book.It is very easy to read and comprehensive.I like it, I recommend this book.

Gaonkar gives you a very detailed education in programming embedded systems. You learn that a microcontroller is really just a special type of computer, where you deal directly with the von Neumann architecture. The specific choice of hardware is the PIC18. Of course, by the end of the book, you should be fluent in writing assembler for it. But, more generally, the skills can be readily transferred to most other types of microprocessors currently on the market. Plus many that do not yet exist. The Neumann design is unlikely to be supplanted. It has existed for over 60 years, being successfully instantiated in succeeding generations of hardware.The book has many questions and assignments for each chapter. Along with a simulator for the PIC18 and exercises that involve programming for it. Realistically, many hours will be needed to tackle these problems. Which makes it well suited to accompany an undergraduate course.

This is a good introduction for a complete novice attempting to grow common succulent plants in an apartment or house with bright light from south, west or east windows. This is largely an alphabetical list of cacti and succulent genera likely to be found at many garden shops or nurseries with specific advice on each genera's culture. There is a one page bibliography and a list of websites for more information as well as an index. Each plant is illustrated in a color photograph showing the plant growing in a suitable pot. One criticism is a lack of plants in flower, as flowering plants would make readers more interested in cacti, particularly.

I absolutely LOVE my Prick book. The cover, with the beautiful array of cacti and hilarious title would have been enough on it own but as I've read through it, it only gets better. The content is really thought through and well rounded. As a scientist, I loved the botany and as someone who has historically killed all her cacti, the tips are really helpful as she makes it so simple. Aside from that, the book is beautiful and I'm proud to have it on my shelf. Beautiful photography and wonderfully put together. I also liked how it gave us a peek into the homes of people with great taste and a love of cacti. This will be a perfect Christmas gift for all my plant loving friends. I must also add that Gynelle herself is an incredible inspiration, as a fellow woman, millennial and person of colour. I love her story, vision and passion.
